He take a look at the box and check if there is something edible inside. Flip through the newspapers and some dirty tissue paper.
His backpack is tattered and his jacket is unwashed for some month.
I take a look at him at the for some minutes. Stared at what he is doing and look away as if he does not exists.

March 10 2011 on my way to Tokyo

This was my note on my phone while i am on my way to Tokyo for the meeting. i love to write my thoughts on if i am not reading something. here it is.
While taking the train to Tokyo I feel so happy and relax. Am I. I just write it in a fashion to make my reader feel great. aba nag ambition ang sarili as if my mga readers. Anyway I don't know what to write I just want to let you know I am happy on this trip.
I was in a state wherein I was so stressed. It makes me want to run away because of the many things I need to do and decide. I have accepted this appointment and so I need to see what I can. It's easy to give up and pack up my things and leave. But it's more meaningful if I face the challenge ahead of me and be able to take the responsibility. Failure or success I am here. I don't need that. All I have to know and develop is that I am here to be with my people. I am ready to take the challenge but it will take a lot of time for me.
Had fun and be happy wala naman mawawala sa akin if I am a failure. I had my success already and that is enough. All I need to do know is just do what I can and be ready to face the challenges that is there.
It's good we have a good weather today and I can say it's so relaxing to be here in this area of Japan.

Not so young anymore
I used to think i am still young. Most people do right? For most of us we thought people around us is growing older, but not ourselves. We always thought we are young.
Today i just happened to talk to a seventeen years old second year senior high school student you happen to visit our church. Since its his first time to visit the church, i am personally curious how come why did he decided to come and visit the church. He loved reading books and from the books he discovered about the church and he bacame interested and decided to visit a church.
We do not have young people who come to the church and its a pity we don`t know how to handle the needs of the young people in our church. The visitation of this young man to our church opens a lot of possibilities for us to know what is in the mind of the young people. Talking to this young man help me realized that there is a world in which we tend to overlook. And that the need to re evaluate our way of doing mission here.
At the same time i feel am not so young anymore. Being with the people older than me always makes me feel young always. I have to face that reality that its my turn to teach the young people and be with them although sometimes i cannot understand their world.

Seventy in Biblical Sense. A Reflection on the 14th Sun of Ord. Time

1 After this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to come.Luke 10.1
What is the significance of Jesus appointing seventy disciples to the ministry of the word? Seventy was a significant number in biblical times. Moses chose seventy elders to help him in the task of leading the people through the wilderness. The Jewish Sanhedrin, the governing council for the nation of Israel, was composed of seventy members. In Jesus’ times seventy was held to be the number of nations throughout the world. Jesus commissioned the seventy to a two-fold task: to speak in his name and to act with his power. Jesus gave them instructions for how they were to carry out their ministry. They must go and serve as people without guile, full of charity and peace, and simplicity. They must give their full attention to the proclamation of God’s kingdom and not be diverted by other lesser things. They must travel light – only take what was essential and leave behind whatever would distract them – in order to concentrate on the task of speaking the word of the God. They must do their work, not for what they can get out of it, but for what they can give freely to others, without expecting reward or payment. “Poverty of spirit” frees us from greed and preoccupation with possessions and makes ample room for God’s provision. The Lord wants his disciples to be dependent on him and not on themselves.
The call of the Lord then is not exclusive to the 70, but to all of us. Let us share our talents to spread the GoodNews to the World.

my brother`s Choice

i was in Cebu together with my brother, sister and her daughter Jessica to visit our mother last May 14 2010. For almost 32 years we have not met out mother and this was a historical event in our lives. We arrived early and since we do not have anything to do i decided to bring them for a tour around Cebu city. of course we went to the famous cite, the Magellan cross where Christianity first came to the Philippines. and after that we visited the famous Sto. Nino Church, where pilgrimes come to visit and pray. after going around the church, we entered a souvenier shop where they are selling religous items. My brother who was thinking of a give for manong Ed decided to make a choice for crucifixes. As i was making a choice myself, he told me that the best gift for manong Ed will be a resurrection cross since it will be a meaningful symbol, especially after winning the election as sanguniang bayan in our town Guimbal, Iloilo. i was speechless, i never know my brother a good theology, simple but deep. i was happy to learn about this.

being good!!!!
when we were children we were told to be good at the same time we have to be good or else our mother or father will just smack us (that`s the way we were raised). but as we matured, we are also growing in our motivations, we have to be good as our Good Lord Created all of us. being good out of love and not out of fear. that`s what we are called for and that`s what we are created for.
